TOP 10 TRAVEL TIPS 1. In other countries power outlets and voltage settings are not always the same as they are in Canada. It would be pretty inconvenient to not be able to plug in your hairdryer or electric shaver while getting ready for a nice evening out. To avoid these little disasters, bring only cordless electronics that use batteries or pick up the proper adapters needed for your destination. 2. Money belts are a great way to keep your valuables out of sight and safe. However it’s a good idea keep your daily spending money in your pockets and NOT in your money belt under your clothes, otherwise every time you go into your money belt for cash you will show the whole world where you keep your valuables. Remember, if your valuables are not out of sight they’re probably not very safe either. 3. As travel agents we will always book you a seat on the aircraft so you don’t get assigned a seat the day you leave. Unfortunately, we are unable to book people into any of the exit row or bulk head seats with more leg room because those seats are generally on a first come first serve basis. To give yourself the best opportunity to get one of these seats, check in for your flight as early as possible. Having that extra leg room can sure help on those long-haul flights around the globe. 4. Airlines allow a certain amount of checked luggage and one carry-on article (i.e. a small backpack or day pack). You ask, “how can a woman be expected to squish all her day to day stuff as well as her favorite book, and other things that she may need in flight, into her purse?”. Not to worry ladies, a purse is not considered a carry on article; you may bring your purse and one other small pack or bag into the cabin with you. 5. When traveling, one should take all the necessary safety precautions to ensure your trip is free of any mishaps. If you require medication, make sure that you have enough to cover the time you’re away rather than fighting to fill your prescription in another country. Most importantly, it is always a good idea to keep your medication with you in your carry-on bag, rather than check it in with your checked luggage. The last thing anyone needs is to have their luggage delayed or worse, especially with needed medication packed inside. 6. Always remember to enjoy yourself on your trip; you shouldn’t have to worry about the cost of an ambulance ride or the cost of an emergency ticket home. The best way to avoid these concerns is by purchasing Travel Insurance. Travel Insurance can protect you against costs for hospitalization, emergency return tickets, trip cancellation, and even your bags! A small cost before you travel could save you thousands of dollars during your trip. 7. We all know that when we are on vacation we tend to relax our brains, which is great! Yet in all our fun we tend to sometimes forget the little things. The same cleanliness and health practices we use at home should be used on vacation as well. Wash your hands before meals, don’t eat questionable food. In some destinations a sink or soap may not be available, some Instant Sanitizing Gel or Lotion, applied to your hands, can quickly solve that problem. 8. Everyone, I’m sure, would love to take an exciting long journey across the globe. For those of you already planning to do so, you already know how hard it can be to get the time off and be away for a long time and you should be able to experience as much as you can and make the best out of your trip since you’ve made the time in your life to travel. Many airfares allow stopovers in destinations en route to your final destination. Maximizing these opportunities to see more destinations can give added value to your vacation. 9. Airport security has increased substantially over the last decade, and any suspicious activity or items are cause for great concern from airport security. Anything that causes security to be concerned can in fact delay or cancel your departure not to mention the flight. Items like an electric toothbrush or an electric shaver can cause such issues if they are accidentally turned on while in your luggage. To avoid the embarrassment of holding up a crowded flight because of a buzzing in your bag, disable or ensure any electric devices are turned off before they are packed. 10. The internet is an amazing tool for information in the ever changing world. The idea that someone can find up to date information about almost any place at the click of a button, is astonishing. Usually the internet makes all of our lives easier; however problems can arise from travel arrangements and pricing done on the internet. If you do decide to book your vacations solely on the internet, ask yourself a few things first: a. How much do you know about the company you're booking with? b. Do they offer travel insurance in case of an emergency? c. If something happens to your travel arrangements such as delays or flight cancellations, are you going to be able to take care of the necessary adjustments to your schedule quickly and efficiently? A travel agent acts as your personal representative regarding your vacation plans, so let us take care of all the complicated stuff and all you have to do is figure out what you need to have for a good time.

Travel Tips Sponsored By: When I got into the travel business, I was determined not to be just another faceless agency that offered mediocre service. I wanted Go Travel to stand out and be different, so I decided that I needed to offer a complete travel experience where the client was greeted as a friend. We took the time to research the tours we were offering to ensure our customers were getting the quality they deserve. If that meant we had to endure the hardships of eating tapas in Barcelona or sipping wine at an out of the way trattoria in Tuscany, then so be it! Please take the time to look over our website and get an idea of what it is that we do. When you're ready, we invite you to Go Travel Now! Tanya Idzan President, Go Travel |
